Memory problems plague everyone as they grow older, but meditation seems to be the best way to handle it naturally. There are many accepted supplements to take as well; however, just as soon as a medical report comes out that an herb or supplement helps with memory, there is one right behind it that says the medical studies are inconclusive. So what do you do if you want a natural solution to memory loss? Meditation is the tried and true way to at least slow down memory loss.

Meditation for memory loss is also easy to do. If you do something as simple as a crossword puzzle, paint, golf, or play a musical instrument, you are already relaxing and using your mind at the same time. If you have experienced a period of peacefulness when you have forgotten about the time during one of your leisure activities, you may have experienced a rudimentary form of meditation.
Using your mind to concentrate while you focus on an object is all that meditation really is. Getting started with meditation for memory loss, however, can be even easier than that.
A great initial exercise to get started is to use imagery to remember the events in your life that you want to forget. This may sound like a paradox, but as people age they tend to block out all of the bad memories of their lifetime. Unfortunately, as you train your mind to block out these images, it starts to block out other images that you want to remember as well. This leads to more and more forgetfulness as you age.

The way to combat memory loss with imagery is to imagine that you have extra oxygen in your brain. Imagine filling your brain with this extra oxygen and then recall a memory that you would like to forget. This memory will probably be connected with memories that are you are fond of and that you want to remember. This is because all memories are all connected in some way, and by blocking out some memories (good or bad) you begin to lose them all.
By doing this exercise once in the morning, while you are fresh, you will begin to start remembering other events that you have forgotten. There are also many other meditation exercises that you can perform to help with memory loss. By getting started as soon as possible, you can get back on the road to keeping all of your memories, both good and bad. You don't have to be afraid of bad memories, either. The one great thing about advanced meditation for memory loss is that you learn to accept the bad things that have happened to you and learn to let them go.
