meditationYoga And Meditation: Controlling The Mind And Relaxing The Body

There is a good chance that you have heard the expression “Stop and smell the Roses”. We all know how hectic life can be. Our lives are full of stress and the basic emotions that we confront each and everyday by simply going through the routine of living. Yoga and Meditation can help us face life head on. Meditation is one of the five key principles of Yoga. If you can master the art of meditation you will provide yourself with the ability to control your mind and relax your body.

In time everyone realizes that life is not always a rose garden; and even if it were even roses have thorns. Quite often when someone gets too excited or stressed out what is the advice typically given? Someone will normally say, “Okay, calm down, take a deep breath and count to ten”. Why do they day that? Because when we take a pause from the world around us it gives our mind a chance to reboot. That is exactly what Yoga and Meditation does for you.

That is right the mind is like a computer; it needs a chance to reboot once in a while. Everyone refreshes their computer so why not refresh the mind and soul. Yoga and Meditation is a form of rebooting and refreshing our minds. Perhaps when you envision meditation you see an old Chinese man sitting cross-legged like he is in a trance. Although this is one method there are actually many others. You can meditate where you want, when you want and how you want. It can be done sitting on your bed or at the dining room table. The process of Yoga and Meditation needs to fit your lifestyle.

When you indulge in Yoga and Meditation you are simply stopping to refocus. You are refueling the senses. The whole idea behind meditating is that you want to bring your mind to the present. You don’t want to dwell on what happened yesterday or what might happen tomorrow. You want to corral your thoughts and fence them in to the present. You want to focus on now and then relax your mind, body and soul. You will still hear what is going on around you. You will still smell the world around you. However you are only concentrating on the now.

The purpose behind meditation is not to bury the thoughts that stress you but rather to prepare your mind to deal with them more positively. When thoughts pass your way while meditating don’t fight them, simply allow them to come and go. The art of Yoga and meditation is not easy. It takes discipline and practice. You want to make yourself as comfortable as possible. Normally you want to have a focus point. This can be your breathing or perhaps a word that you repeat over and over in your mind. The bottom line is you want to empty your mind of thought.

You will know when you have found that special sense of calmness that allows you to be totally relaxed and yet extremely aware of your surroundings. Once you have reached that level of relaxation you will find yourself developing a surreal sense of purpose with will power you never imagined. Your mind will become more clear and open. Your ability to concentrate will leap to an entirely different level.

By recharging your mind through Yoga and Meditation you enhance all the senses in your system. Experts believe that this process can assist in many health benefits in addition to helping you confront the hurdles of life with more zest and spring in your step. Like any process intended to benefit your mind, body and soul it takes practice and dedication. But once you are there the rewards can be numerous. Give Yoga and Meditation a try and you may find yourself effectively controlling your mind and relaxing your body and taking the time to smell the roses along the way.
