How Meditation Changes the Waves of Brain Electrical Frequencies
By now, you should have heard all about the latest information on meditation. Your research has taught you that meditation is a great way to relieve stress, as well as relaxing your mind and body. Meditation is so beneficial that it enhances your body's natural healing abilities and how your immune system functions. What you may not know is that there are waves of brain electrical frequencies that occur in stages, and meditation taps into the different levels. Let's take a look at the different levels of frequencies that are produced by the brain, and then we will go into the manipulation of these waves of brain frequencies.
The Delta State
The Delta state is the first level in the cycle that makes the waves of brain electrical frequencies. It is typically the state that you experience when you are in a deep sleep. The waves of brain electrical frequencies in this state measure low, between 0.5 Hz and 4 Hz. Those who are more experienced in meditation can actually reach the Delta state while they are awake.
The Theta State
The waves of brain electrical frequencies in the Theta state are between 4 Hz and 8 Hz. During the Theta state, you are drowsy, yet still completely aware of what's going on around you. The waves of brain activity in this state are often experienced while you are engaging in activities like watching a television show. The Theta state is usually the optimum goal for meditation.
The Alpha State
In the Alpha state, the waves of brain frequency occur between the ranges of 8 Hz and 14 Hz. You are completely awake and alert, but your body is relaxed. The waves of brain activity in the Alpha state are generally experienced during short or light meditation sessions. You will also experience these waves of brain activity while you are daydreaming.
The Beta State
Finally, you have the Beta State. Waves of brain frequencies operate at 14 Hz to 40 Hz in this state. Because of the faster waves of brain oscillations, this state is where the most amount of stress, anxiety, and depression are found.
Binaural Beats for Waves of Brain Activity
Meditation can help you reach the waves of brain frequencies that you desire. It is also quite common to use additional aids to help you reach your state of mind goals. Binaural beats can generate an effect influencing the frequencies that are produced by your brain. There are two different frequencies in binaural beats, heard individually, one per ear, and then processed by the brain. Once processed the brain makes a 3rd frequency, equal to the difference between the two binaural beat frequencies. In order to reach the state of mind that you desire, you must choose the proper brainwave-inducing program, and not all are created equal.
