Spirit Meditation Is An Active Way Of Connecting With Yourself
Spirit meditation, sometimes also called Dynamic meditation was really brought to the fore by an Indian mystic and spiritual teacher known as Osho. Osho was one of the most famous Spirit meditation teachers of recent times, and in 1974 he established a spiritual centre for meditation and self discovery.
Using Spirit meditation techniques are a great way of relieving the stress and tension that build up inside us all and this has led to the majority of people believing that meditation is just a tool that can be used as and when needed; however, meditation is so much more, and what really made Osho stand out from other spiritual teachers was that he taught us that Spirit meditation is a complete approach to life that helps each of us to discover a higher level of being, instead of just a simple practice to aid relaxation.
By practicing Spirit meditation we are able to focus all of our undivided attention on our individual inner spirit. By connecting with our inner selves, and reflecting on and contemplating our lives we are able to reach a higher level of being. The more we practice Spirit meditation, the stronger the bond with our inner selves slowly grows. In this way we are able to access new levels of insight, and receive the wisdom we need in order to live our lives in a healthier, more effective manner. Many religious people believe that the wisdom they receive comes from their god; they believe they are receiving the words of their god. However, you do not need to hold any religious beliefs in order to benefit from Spirit meditation. Indeed, just as many people believe that the wisdom comes from deep within their subconscious mind - this is free from all of the constrictions that our conscious minds are bound by, and therefore it is only our subconscious that can truly see things as they really stand.
Spirit meditation is made up of five different stages, and apart from the fourth stage they are all accompanied by music. Each of the stages requires you to carry out different tasks: the first stage involves practicing some deep breathing exercises for a period of 10 minutes. The second stage also lasts for 10 minutes and is for catharsis, or purification. In this stage you do whatever you feel like doing, this could be jumping, singing, running around - basically whatever you want to do! In the third stage of Spirit meditation, you jump up and down with your arms raised and shout 'HOO HOO' every time you take a jump; again this stage lasts for 10 minutes. The fourth stage lasts for 15 minutes and is done in complete silence. You freeze and remain completely motionless while taking notice of the feelings you are experiencing. The meditation is completed with the fifth stage where you sing, dance and celebrate for 15 minutes.
Practicing Spirit meditation is hugely rewarding - not only does it allow you to enter a state of reflection and deep relaxation it also acts as a guide as you advance yourself so that you may evolve to a higher level of being.
