meditationThe Goal of the Shambhala Meditation Center

A Shambhala meditation center is a place to learn and grow in the knowledge of Shambhala and Shambhala teachings. Before you embark on a search for a Shambhala meditation center, it's a good idea to know a little about Shambhala. It is a form of Buddhism that believes there is good in every human and every human is capable of tapping into this goodness and spreading it around. Human goodness can be nurtured through principals and meditation. A Shambhala meditation center can help develop the good in people by teaching how to overcome fear and doubt.

Shambhala has roots that intertwine with early Buddhist teachings, but it is a newer practice. The founder of Shambhala, Chogyam Trungpa, was brought up with Tibetan Buddhism. Much of Shambhala comes from those teachings. The principals of Shambhala teach people how to live within the secular world with compassion for others and courage to avoid becoming hardened.

Around the world there are over 170 groups and centers teaching Shambhala. A Shambhala meditation center is a place where its members can take courses in meditation, contemplative methods, and disciplines of Shambhala. A Shambhala meditation center can also be a safe place for family and friends to gather for events and celebrations. The community within a Shambhala meditation center works hard to practice the principles of compassion and courage by going out to serve the community around them.

At a Shambhala meditation center there are many courses one can take to learn how to meditate and study the teachings. Through these courses, you can learn how to add compassion into your daily life and how to serve others. Not only will you learn Shambhala courses, but also courses in the Buddhist religion. There may even be some guest speakers teaching on the practices of Tibetan Buddhism schools Kagyu and Nyingma. The Shambhala meditation center is a place to learn and grow in the knowledge of Shambhala. Some centers even offer week or month-long retreats where there are workshops on different subjects and fundamentals.

Each Shambhala meditation center creates an atmosphere that is free of judgments and prejudice. The community strives to help each member develop an enlightened sense of self and to reach out to help others discover enlightenment. There are workshops for both beginners and those who have been practicing meditation for years. Some workshops do require some prerequisites, but there are many workshops that are open to everyone.

The Shambhala meditation center teaches a variety of workshops that include mindfulness, awareness, and the basics of meditation. The basics of Shambhala training is warriorship. The beginning classes are centered on developing the heart of warriorship. This workshop is normally a five section course. The topics covered are: the art of being human, birth of the warrior, warrior in the world, awakened heart, and open sky. This set of workshops is recommended for all beginners. For the more advanced, there are several courses in learning the sacred path and more advanced programs for those who have studied Shambhala for some time.

The Shambhala meditation center is a place to develop a deeper understanding of Shambhala and learn how to apply these teachings to your daily life.
