Osho Meditation for You
Osho Meditation merely refers to the meditation techniques employed by an Indian mystic of the same name. Originally born Chandra Mohan Jain, he took the name Osho in 1989 after traveling under the name Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh for many years, teaching his meditation techniques to many westerners. Osho Meditation techniques are now taught in clinics all over the world despite the controversy that surrounded the interesting life of Osho himself.
It is interesting to note that Osho has been sometimes referred to as the "sex guru" in the press and in criticisms of his spiritual observations, despite the value found within the Osho meditation techniques themselves. This is because of the reactions of a taboo-sensitive press, who chose to focus too much on his liberal stances toward human sexual expression, and not focus on his techniques for meditation. This is a shame as it seems to belittle the importance of studying Osho meditation techniques in and of themselves.
Osho's Meditation methods cannot be mentioned without at least passing reference acknowledging the acts that his group, Rajneeshpuram, committed while living in Oregon in the nineteen-eighties. After a number of conflicts with local residents, Osho fled, having admitted members of his group had taken part in a bio-terror attack against the people that lived there. It is sad that Osho meditation will be forever tainted by this unfortunate event, as this led to a media frenzy that exploited Osho's situation and further drew attention away from the value of his teachings.
Osho meditation has multiple techniques that are designed to bring about different feelings within the body. They are designed to be performed at different times of the day so as to illicit the maximum response from the body and mind. For instance, dynamic meditation is an Osho meditation technique that is designed to be performed in the morning in order to maximize your feeling of energy and well being for the whole day. Kundalini meditation is called the "sister" to dynamic meditation, and is an Osho meditation designed to relieve the accumulated stress at the end of your day. Osho meditation also has another practice called Gourishankar meditation, which is a nighttime technique for relaxation involving subtle hand movement and staring into a soft light.
Osho meditation techniques are taught by devotees in clinics throughout the world. Practitioners of these techniques frequently call themselves "neo-sannyas" in keeping with the practices established by his followers in the nineteen-seventies, though there is no specific instruction in Osho meditation to do so. It is merely a door for those who wish to go within themselves and try to make some sense of things. In this chaotic world, it is sometimes rewarding to step back and journey into yourself, and Osho meditation allows us this chance.
