Mindfulness Research Delivers Outstanding Findings
Over the past few years there has been a dramatic increase into the number of studies carried out into mindfulness techniques. This mindfulness research has delivered some really amazing findings, so much so in fact that methods investigated by mindfulness research studies are now being used by medical professionals as a means of treating patients, without having to resort to expensive medications.
We are living in a world that is becoming more and more stressful, which in turn is leading to an increase in the number of people who suffer from negative disorders - most of which stem from stress. With so many people suffering it is no wonder that so many are eager to hear about the findings that mindfulness research is turning up.
It is the case that many people see pills and medications as the only way to cure disorders such as stress, anxiety, depression, and the list goes on. However, taking a mixture of different pills each day is no cure. Medication doesn't help with the major underlying causes of these disorders, instead it only masks the physical effects caused by the disorder. Mindfulness research is helping to show us that there is a healthier, more natural way to treat serious medical conditions as well as everyday irritations.
There have been many different mindfulness research studies which have reported positive results regarding stress reduction through mindful activities, however there was also some doubt as to whether these results where due to mindfulness, or a combination of other factors. Recently, there has been a new study which clearly demonstrates that mindfulness is a fantastic stress reduction tool. However, investigations have also been carried out in many other fields, and mindfulness research is now becoming invaluable to treat a variety of conditions:
Mindfulness research has proven that employing mindfulness techniques can be really beneficial for relationships - in fact couples who exhibited mindful attitudes were found to deal with relationship stress much more effectively. A second study showed that couples also experience lower levels of stress during times of conflict allowing the couple to communicate better and overcome the conflict in a constructive way. Both link mindfulness with healthy relationships.
Mindfulness research has even been used to help terminally ill patients: one study demonstrated how cancer patients suffering with sleep problems experienced longer periods of rest and an increase in the quality of their sleep after a two month mindfulness program. Another mindfulness research study investigated the ways in which the same eight week program was beneficial to people suffering from eating disorders. Several women suffering from bulimia have reported improvements in their emotional well being, their behavior, self awareness and compassion after taking part in the program.
Meditative methods are a fantastic way of relieving the stresses of everyday life, not to mention the more serious forms of stress that can easily build up inside each of us due to the hectic pace of modern life. However, the latest mindfulness research has also shown that the practice of mindful exercises can be extremely beneficial to people suffering from a wide range of complaints.
Further investigations and studies looking in to mindfulness research are essential in order to uncover the true potential that mindfulness has to offer each of us. Mindfulness has the ability to not only help people who are suffering from serious illnesses and disorders, but also to help lessen our society's dependency on expensive pharmaceuticals.
