Most creative people perform meditation exercises for creativity everyday and don't even realize it. When we focus on our task or try to visualize the outcome of a creative endeavor, we are meditating. The difference is how long we hold that concentration, and what kind of control we bring to our meditative practice.

The way to get the most out of meditation for creativity is to set aside ten minutes a day with a specific purpose. You can choose to sit down each day and use visualization, or simply practice focusing your mind on a single object, such as the breath. This will help you dissolve creative blocks.

The way this increases your creativity is to shut out doubts, stress, and other factors, mostly having to do with ego, that may hinder your creativity in any way. Meditation also keeps your mind from wandering, so that you stay grounded in the present while you carry out your creative task. Your singular focus during your work will result in precision, quality, and a full expression of your creative abilities.

Since, often, the creative process is itself a form of meditation, the more trained your mind is, the more fruitful and fulfilling that meditation will be. Think of regular meditation as mind training. When the mind is well trained, focusing on your art or craft will be easy for you.
