Complexity of Human Consciousness
The human mind is the most complex organ in the entire body. Each person is different and they think and act differently from each other. The human consciousness is probably the most difficult thing to research and understand. We all have different thoughts and different thought processes. Some people are aware of their consciousness and others make it through each day happily unaware. Human consciousness is more advance and complex than any other animal or object on the planet.
The human consciousness consists of three main parts; consciousness, subconscious, and superconscious. These three parts make up the whole of human consciousness and all three are needed to function properly. The consciousness is the part we are aware of. It is our thoughts, feelings, and reactions to what is going on as it happens. The subconscious are the things we are not aware of or not in control of. Things like breathing, touching, or the hand pulling back when we touch something hot are all part of the subconscious. We don't have to actively think about these things, they just happen automatically. The superconscious is the energy that surrounds us. It is God or the Source energy or your higher power working through you. These three parts all work together to form human consciousness.
Human consciousness is a powerful tool. Most of our daily behavior and routine happens without us even thinking about it. We develop habits quickly and those habits are locked in the subconscious. Most people are not aware of what they do on a daily basis. It is like when you drive home from work and don't even know how you got there because your mind was on something completely different. Your subconscious knows the way and it will automatically guide you.
Buddhist monks are forever searching for enlightenment, the highest form of human consciousness. Some people achieve enlightenment and others never do. Mindfulness is a way to be aware of everything happening while it happens. If you become aware of each action and each feeling as it happens, you may be able to change the outcome or appreciate each moment more. If you want to break a bad habit, you first have to fight the human consciousness and the subconscious. Many people bite their nails out of habit and aren't even aware they are doing it until someone points it out. The human consciousness might work against us in this sense. However, learning to become aware of each passing thought and action can help break habits.
Learning to view the human consciousness as an object or something you are watching from the outside looking in is a great way to become more mindful. Pay attention to each thought as it passes by. You don't have to go off on a thought tangent with every thought but acknowledge it is there. Try meditation if you really want to become one with your own human consciousness. Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and allow your thoughts to flow as slowly or rapidly as they need to. Acknowledge each one, give a small nod if you have to, and then let it continue by.
The human consciousness is complex. Take time each day to become more aware of the things you feel, see, touch, and taste. You will have a deeper understanding and appreciation of your own consciousness.
