Consciousness simply means to be in an aware state where you have knowledge of yourself and your situation. Meditation helps you to grow in consciousness by creating a deep awareness of the inner voice within and by removing stress factors that cause the mind to lose focus.

Since consciousness is awareness it becomes easy to see how your current level of awareness connects to your level of understanding. As both attributes expand through meditation, so too will your level of understanding. Not only will you begin to understand yourself on a deeper level, but you’ll also increase in your understanding of others and the world around you.
