Grounding meditation is an excellent way of overcoming the pressures of modern life so that you can enjoy each and every moment. The majority of us rarely take the time to focus on the present moment because all of our attention is taken up by worrying about what happened at work yesterday, or thinking about all of the chores and housework that need to be done over the weekend. By allowing our minds to be taken up with all of these worries, we are effectively living our life without actually experiencing everything that it has to offer. However, by practicing some simple grounding meditation methods, it is possible for anyone to soar above the burdens of modern life so that they can experience existence to the full.

Grounding meditation is used to help reconnect our minds and bodies back to the present. By grounding yourself you are able to become fully aware of the physical sensations that you are experiencing at that exact moment; you are present emotionally and mentally. Practicing grounding meditation can deliver a number of benefits, the most obvious of which is stress relief, not to mention an increased sense of emotional well being.

Grounding meditation can take several different forms, so it's important that you find the grounding technique that is most effective for you. Here is a quick and easy breathing exercise that is an excellent introduction to grounding meditation: first of all find a peaceful place to sit. Fully relax your muscles and allow your eyes to slowly close and take 2 or 3 very deep breaths. As you breathe in you are going to visualize your favorite color, feel the color fill your entire body, and as you exhale let go off all the tension inside yourself. Breathe in and imagine the color a second time, draw it deep down towards your feet. Again allow all of the tension inside you to escape as you breathe out. Breathe in the color for a third time, but this time draw it even deeper, past your feet and down into the floor beneath you, through the building and down into the soil so that you are now connected with nature. Allow all of the tension to escape as you exhale.

You can keep this grounding meditation exercise up for as long as you feel necessary. When you feel you are ready to stop, take one last breath, but this time breath in a color that is vibrant, and invigorating. Allow this color to escape your body as you breathe out; you are now ready to carry on with the rest of your day. After your grounding meditation session you will find yourself in a calm and peaceful state of relaxation. You will be able to deal with whatever the day has in store for you, and you will be able to overcome it, without getting angry, frustrated, worried or stressed.

Grounding meditation is probably one of the simplest forms of meditation, but don't let this fool you - grounding is an exceptionally powerful tool that can deliver almost limitless benefits. By practicing grounding meditation for just 5 minutes each day you will be able to notice the positive effects it has on your life.
