Many of us are constantly striving for material goods or pushing ourselves to meet superficial achievements because we are not fulfilled on a spiritual level, and therefore we try to gain fulfillment from material possessions. However, by practicing Gratitude meditation we are given the skills needed to discover that the path to true happiness and contentment lies in being thankful for all of the things that we already have in life.

Gratitude meditation is a tool that allows us to realize how lucky we are, and to put aside the insignificant worries that so often cloud our moods, and ultimately it leads to spiritual fulfillment.

Gratitude meditation is a breath of fresh air for all of those people who are tired of chasing material wealth and constantly being disappointed when it fails to deliver the long lasting spiritual happiness they seek. Gratitude meditation is an extremely powerful and rewarding technique that helps to develop our sense of gratitude and creates a feeling of being content and happy with our life.

If Gratitude meditation is sounding like something that you are interested in, then here is a quick exercise that you can try out right now: find a quiet place to sit or lay down and close your eyes. Allow your body to become fully relaxed and let all of the tension held in your muscles escape. Gently empty your mind of all thoughts and begin to take slow, deep breathes. Draw the air deep into your lungs, hold it for a few seconds and then slowly exhale. As you repeat this deep breathing, start to think about the special things in your life that you are grateful for; perhaps you are grateful for your health, or that you have a family, or that you have a loyal group of friends. Perhaps you are grateful for living in a nice area, or for special moments like being hugged by a child.

The great thing about Gratitude meditation is that it is extremely personal; there are no right or wrong things to think about while you meditate, the important thing is to just concentrate on the things that you are grateful for, no matter what those things are. Take several minutes to embrace these feelings, and then take a few more very deep breathes. You are now ready to return to your daily routine, but as you go through the day notice how you carry with you the warm feelings of inner peace and contentment.

As you practice your Gratitude meditation you will find yourself entering into a state of deep relaxation that allows you to reflect on all of the good things in your life. You will also notice that Gratitude meditation helps you to uncover more and more things to be thankful for and find yourself developing a growing sense of inner balance and contentment which allows you to achieve true spiritual fulfillment. Gratitude meditation may use a really simple technique, but it is a great way of refocusing on your inner self. You should notice how you feel much more calm and relaxed. Your mind should also now be free from all the frustration, anger, worry and stress that may have built up.
