Depression is an illness that should be treated mostly with medication, at least this is what psychiatrists say. In today's society, grieving is for the weak. This concept is a drastic variation from the old days, when we all had the time and enjoyed sharing emotion with friends and family. Are we encouraged to block our emotion because it causes us to be less productive? Why are we just forced to deal with it and get on with life? Where does depression meditation fit into this all?

Depression can be considered a condition that is only temporary, with the person suffering often feeling trapped. They keep focusing on a memory from the past without being able to see the positive in the present and future. This is depression. It is not just a medical condition, but a state of mind.

Those suffering from depression have often experienced a loss, either real or perceived, and are often angry at the world in general. Despite trying to stay active, they are still filled with depression and cannot always explain it or even understand it. Why does this happen? Understanding is a conscious action. On the subconscious level, the body still carries the burden of the source of the depression. Some will simply just say, most dont know why this is happening, but life goes on and so must I. This is from the conscious part of the mind; however, the unconscious part is still feeling pain, anger, and suffering. It is not possible to treat an emotion with logic. They are two different things, and cannot be measured against each other.

Meditation works at the subconscious level. With that said, it also affects the conscious mind too. Depression meditation bridges subconscious thoughts and brings highly beneficial changes into the mind on both levels. This is what allows meditation to help deal with depression and overcome the life-harming state. Those who are depressed are usually focused on a past event, but they are also worried about the future. The nervous system is over-stimulated.

Depression causes the increased release of a stress hormone, known as cortisol. This leads to an increase in stress and tension trapped inside the body, with depression sufferers left in a state of lethargy due to mental exhaustion. The mind and body needs rest to recuperate. Do not just rest yourself with sleep, rest your body and mind with depression meditation. Depression meditation is indeed the most effective, most advanced form of treatment for depression.

Depression meditation dramatically helps patients with a high degree of success. The commonly prescribed antidepressants blocks emotions in the body. Depression meditation does the exact opposite, as it releases dysfunctional emotions that are locked in the mind.

Depression meditation is very helpful, as it clears up the emotional distress that is associated with depression. If it gives you added comfort, treat meditation as a drug. With a drug, its dosage will increase or decrease depending on your need. The more time you spend meditating, similar to upping the dose of medication, the more relaxed and at peace, you will feel.
