Seven Different Consciousness States
Everyone has a conscious and a subconscious. Consciousness states are states of awareness and the subconscious are the things we do without noticing or thinking about. Breathing, swallowing, or digesting are all parts of the subconscious mind. The conscious mind is what we are aware of doing or things we are presently doing, like reading this document. There are seven different consciousness states. Each person will experience one of these seven states at any moment in their lives; however, we will almost never experience the same states at the same time. Knowing what each different state is will help you develop a deeper consciousness state.
The first of the seven consciousness states is hunger. We have all felt hunger from time to time and in most cases have quenched the hunger upon the first few pangs. This specific type of hunger is the lowest form of all of the consciousness states and is a hunger that lasts for years. It is a craving that cannot be satisfied and the hunger takes over the whole state of mind. Nothing matters except for satisfying the hunger.
The second state of consciousness is subjection. Subjection is a state of helplessness or hopelessness. Many people live and dwell in these consciousness states and have little or no desire to change it. These people allow others to conform them and they feel helpless to stop it.
The third state is fear. No one likes to live in fear and yet so many people do. Fear is a raging war against emotion and the mind. It can make us feel powerless, but it is up to each individual person to overcome their own fear. Fear can make you feel helpless, but only if we allow it to take control.
The fourth of the consciousness states is emotion and intellect. The fifth consciousness states are reason and logic. We put these two consciousness states together because as we develop the fourth state turns into the fifth state. Often times we get caught up in our emotions and fight with our intellect. Since we are not quite to the state of reason and logic, this tug of war can end up in some pretty bad choices. Fighting with the emotion and intellect without thinking about the consequences can be a slippery slope. Once we develop into the reason and logic state we have moved into a higher consciousness state and a higher state of being.
Divine and human reasoning is the sixth of the consciousness states. This state is similar to the reason and logic state, but it is more personable. With reason and logic, people tend to see only the facts weighed out and forget about other people. When the sixth state is reached, the facts are still present but compassion and feelings are part of the equation as well.
The final of the consciousness states is cosmic consciousness. This is the highest level of consciousness and the most difficult to achieve. Most people will never reach this level; it is a state that must be strived for and practiced. This last of the consciousness states is absolute and acknowledges there is something greater out there. This is the discovering of a higher being and knowing that knowledge is eternal and our consciousness will continue and grow for all time.
The seven different consciousness states can guide us towards a more enlightened life and a higher awareness of our selves.
