Where to Begin to Achieve Advanced Meditation
Are you a beginner in meditation? Please understand one thing, even though in this particular article we are discussing advanced meditation, there is no such thing as beginner meditation or advanced meditation. There is only meditation, no adjective before or after that. The level on which we practice cannot be defined in time or space and this is why we consider the term advanced meditation to be just a meaning of something that cannot be clearly put in words. If so, you must consider a few things before you make your way to the path of advanced meditation.
- 1. Do not meditate while full. It is best to leave a two to three hour gap between eating a meal and meditating. After consuming food, your body is digesting that meal and you will feel lethargic, making meditation far more difficult. On that same note, do not meditate when you are hungry, as your quest for advanced meditation will be consumed by your thoughts of food.
- 2.Do not meditate when under the influences of drugs or alcohol. Meditation is designed to bring ourselves inner calmness and peace, connecting to our higher selves. This is not possible when under the influence of drugs, as they can have a counterproductive effect resulting in restless nerves.
- 3. Always meditate with a straight back. A straight spine is important when meditating. During meditation, energy flows from the spinal base to the head. These energies can flow more freely and naturally with a straight back. Regardless of whether you meditate on the floor or in the chair, keep the body comfortable. Know however that most meditators experience problems when lying down, as they can easily slip into sleep, nullifying the sub-conscious / conscious bridging benefits.
- 4. Wear light and clean clothes. It is always best to shower and dress in lightweight, clean clothes before trying to reach advanced meditation. Doing so enables you to get away from the consciousness of our everyday lives, allowing you to enter into a different mind frame.
- 5. Use a separate corner of your room for meditation. You want to create a meditative vibration, which can be done by selecting a small corner of a room to use and continue using on a regular basis for your powerfully beneficial advanced meditation sessions. You will notice a difference in as little as a few sessions. When practicing advanced meditation, it is possible to meditate anywhere. However, beginners are sensitive to environmental vibrations. Increase this meditative corner’s appeal by decorating it with objects that inspire you. Create a shrine if you wish, as it can benefit some, but of course is not essential.
- 6. Meditate regularity and punctually. To reap the most benefits, meditation should become a part of your daily routine. It is difficult to make progress when meditating only in sporadic intervals. You get experiences that are more powerful when you meditate regularly. In fact, your mind and body may be ready to meditate without prompting.
According to Sri Chinmoy, Even while you are going deep within, you are focusing your conscious attention both on the physical plane and on the subconscious planeť. This allows you to avoid outer world distractions and avoid the possibility of falling asleep. Follow these seven steps and you are prepared for real meditation. Over time, you will find yourself practicing advanced meditation regularly.
